EXPERT NOTES

Crafted from grapes nurtured in the Willamette Valley's Scotch Church Vineyard, located just 13 miles from our winery, our 2021 Gamay Noir showcases the vision of our winemaker, Andrew Kirkland. He handpicked this site in 2016, deeming it perfect for growing this varietal in the valley.

WINEMAKER’S TASTING NOTES

A cherry nose is darkened by aromas of baking spice, peppercorns, and dust. Soft tannins and balanced acidity highlight the mouth filling dark red fruit of cherries and berries.

TASTE WINE

Look, Smell, Taste and Conclude

VISUAL

You can tell the age of the wine by the color in the glass, also if you look at the legs of the wine you can determine quality aspects

SMELL

When you first start smelling wine, think big to small. Are there fruits? Think of broad categories first, i.e. citrus, orchard, or tropical fruits in whites or, when tasting reds, red fruits, blue fruits, or black fruits. Getting too specific or looking for one particular note can lead to frustration

The Grape

The grape variety is very important to understand a wine.
Grape varieties are considered the most important factor in differentiating a wine

IN YOUR TONGUE

You will be able to perceive that the flavor runs throughout the mouth. You will notice how it runs along the sides, which indicates that it is a quality wine due to its structure.
