SIERRA NORTE WINERY

A little bit of history

In early 1914 while all the growers in the village of Camporrobles focused solely on grain production, two visionaries decided to experiment by planting the first Bobal vines. The space dedicated to growing vines began at just under 2 acres.

Over the course of three generations, what began as a mere experiment, inspired many more farmers in this region to change their agricultural focus as well. For this family, vineyards have now completely replaced grain production, with plantings that now span close to 800 acres.

Although initially sold to individual buyers, the fruit grown in the vineyards, each located in unique micro climates, are now managed under the umbrella of one award-winning winery, Bodega Sierra Norte.

VINEYARDS

Located throughout Camporrobles, El Pinós, Jumilla, Carcelén, and La Roda a high priority has been placed on the production of native Mediterranean grape varietals, yet includes several international varieties. Each vineyard has earned Organic Certification through Spain's Organic Farming Committee.

THE WINES

This Estate has a unique advantage of managing several vineyards, each assigned to it's own wine production cellar. Several brands differentiate the production grown within each region, displaying an amazing range of styles from light rosé blends to bold indigenous monovarietals. Organic certification ensures that despite the different brand, you can rest assured that you are enjoying the cleanest, most environmentally responsible wines from this region.
